Edna Price was an 1896 graduate of Willamette University. Her fiancé, Corporal Harry (Hal) Glen Hibbard, a student of the Willamette School of Oratory, died of typhoid fever in Manila on December 9, 1898, while serving with the Second Oregon Volunteer Infantry in the Spanish-American War. He was granted a posthumous degree in 1899. After graduating, Price did secretarial work until her marriage in 1903 to Reverend Samuel H. Jones, an Irish Presbyterian minister.
